system
Event management system (EMS) is a web-base application. It

Medical Information System (MIS)
Medical information system (MIS) is developed in C programming
language which allows users to enter patient information, medical information
etc. The system will store this information in .DAT data file. Users can
search, update and delete this information. MIS is a desktop application and a
GUI and DOS based menu driven application which can run on any windows
operating system and does not require any supporting or licenses software to
run. Users can operate all the menu options using a mouse, despite this being a
DOS base system.

Unique ID management
UID Number is a number that would help the government to track
down individuals and would make life far easier for citizens as they would not
have to submit multiple documents each time they want to avail a new public,
private and government service. This UID management system will contain
personal details like name, sex, address, marital status, photo, identification
mark and fingerprint bio-metric. UID will be a 12 digit alphanumeric number to
provide more security. UID system manages a person’s needs in his/her lifespan
by using a single UID i.e. the number is used in driving license,
voter ID card, registration number in organisations, bank account, personal or
professional details.

Web-based application for automatic timetable
generation
The manual system of time table preparation in colleges is
very monotonous and time-consuming which results in either the same teachers
ending up with more than one class at a time or a number of classes conflicting
at the same classroom. Due to a non-automatic perspective, absolute utilization
of resources has proven ineffective. In order to deal with such problems, a
mechanized system with a computer aided timetable generator is designed. The
system takes different inputs including number of subjects, teachers,
maximum lectures a teacher can conduct, priority of subject and topics to be
covered in a week or a lecture. It then creates a feasible timetable for
working days of the week, making excellent application of all resources in the
best possible way.

Emotion-based music player
In this proposed system the facial expression extracted will
generate a playlist automatically thereby reducing the effort and time involved
in rendering the process manually. Testing of the system is done both on user
dependent (dynamic) and user independent (static) dataset. An inbuilt camera
captures the facial features. The accuracy of the emotion detection algorithm
used in the system for real-time images is around 85-90%, while for static
images it is around 98- 100%. The proposed algorithm on an average takes around
0.95-1.05 sec to generate an emotion-based music playlist. Thus, it yields
better accuracy in terms of performance and computational time and reduces the
designing cost, compared to the algorithms used in the literature survey.

management system in C++
This is one of the interesting projects among computer
engineering projects. The library management system automates the basic library
functions to aid in the day-to-day operations of a library. It supports
functions like issue, return, the basic functions of searching for a particular

Distorted fingerprint verification system
Fingerprint matching is affected by non-linear distortion
introduced in fingerprint impression during the image acquisition process. The
proposed system operates in three stages: alignment based fingerprint matching,
fuzzy clustering, and classifier framework. First, an enhanced input
fingerprint image is aligned with the template and match score is
computed. To improve the performance of the system, a fuzzy clustering based on
distance and density clusters the feature set obtained earlier. Finally, a
classifier framework finds the cost-sensitive classifier produces better
results.

Facial expression recognition
Facial Expression Recognition (FER) project is developed in C#,
Microsoft visual studio .net. Robust recognition of facial expressions from
images and videos is still a challenging task due to the difficulty in
accurately extracting the useful emotional features. These features are often
represented in different forms, like static, dynamic, point-based geometric or
region-based appearance. Facial movement features including feature position
and shape, are often caused by movement of facial muscles during emotional
expression.

Student information system
This student information system is developed using Java as the
Front-end and MS Access Database integration. This system has all the object
components in Java like buttons, text fields, radio button, combo box, list,
images, a check box that you can refer on how to use these components. It has
also events for action events, list selection, and item state changed and uses
a database for storing information. This system can add, edit/update, delete,
and search a particular student.

Design and implementation of examination
grading system for high schools
Computation, compilation and grading student’s results manually
and via some general purpose software (off-shell packages) is time-consuming,
is prone to errors. These have also been factors contributing to students’
failure. Often delay is another factor. This project is sought to encourage the
use of customized computer packages and software applications which will
improve accuracy in students’ results grading and academic performances.

Computer engineering projects: Remote
electrocardiogram monitoring based on the internet
This is a real-time remote patient monitoring service through
world wide web (WWW). It allows physicians to monitor their patient in remote
sites using a popular web browser. The prototype system consists of data
acquisition and pre-processing modules. These are connected to the computer via
RS-232 port. Two personal computers equipped with the network adapter, analog
to digital cards and software modules handle communication protocols between
the data acquisition module and personal computer.

Pedestrian navigation based on 3D map and
mobile interaction
Next up in the list of computer engineering projects is the
pedestrian navigation system. This is based on 3D map and mobile interaction.
Here, a pedestrian navigation based on 3D maps describes technologies required
and its use situations. Secondly, we compare the effectiveness of 2D and 3D
maps for navigation by object search experiments under certain conditions. 3D
maps with and without texture, display sizes corresponding to a mobile phone
and PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). The experimental results show that 3D
maps with texture on mobile phone display size, and 3D maps without texture on
PDA display size are superior to 2D maps in search time and error rate.

Image steganography
This is one of the interesting projects among computer
engineering Projects. This project is developed for hiding information in any
image file. In this, the user will have to run the application and will have
two options, encrypt and decrypt. If user selects encrypt, the application
selects an image file, information file and option to save the image file. If
the user selects decrypt, the application gives the screen to select only the
image file and asks for the path where the user wants to save the secret file.

Training and placement cell
The training and placement cell contains all the information
about the students. The system stores all the personal information of the
students, like their personal details, their aggregate marks, their skill set
and their technical skills that are required in the CV to be sent to a company.
The system is an online application that can be accessed throughout the
organisation and outside as well with proper login provided. This system can be
used as an application for the TPO of the college to manage the student
information with regards to placement. This project contains all the details of

Bar-code image generation library
This library is designed to provide a class for developers to
use, that allows generation of bar code images from a string of data. This
project allows for the generation of bar code images without the use of “bar
code fonts”. The basic idea of what happens in this library is as follows: it
first turns the data into a series of 1s and 0s representing equal-width bars
and spaces. This string of binary information is then sent to a drawing method
that converts it to an image representing the desired bar code. This approach
allows for one common drawing method to be used on all symbols.

A robust push-to-talk service for wireless
mesh networks
This model presents the architecture and protocol of a robust
distributed PTT service for wireless mesh networks. The architecture supports
any 802.11 clients with session initiation protocol (SIP) based VoIP software
and enables the participation of regular phones. Collectively, the mesh nodes
provide the illusion of a single third-party call controller, enabling clients
to participate via any reachable mesh node. Each PTT group instantiates its own
logical floor control manager highly available and resilient to mesh
connectivity changes like node crashes and recoveries and network partitions
and merges.

A java based network intrusion detection
system (IDS)
In this project, we designed and built an Intrusion Detection
System (IDS) that implements pre-defined algorithms for identifying the attacks
over a network. The Java programming language is used to develop the system,
JPCap must be used to provide access to the winPcap. The packets in the network
are captured online i.e., as they come on the interface of the network. The IDS
are designed to provide the basic detection techniques to secure the systems
present in the networks that are directly or indirectly connected to the
internet.

Revenue recovery system
This project benefits to the departments with greater
transparency, convenience, timeliness, responsiveness. This software module
allows revenue department proper details about collection in a particular
revenue year. This software module generates various reports based on the
revenue recovery collection entries. It also gives a graphical
representation of the data and it stores and backup the data easily whereas
with usual conventional methods. This software module also provides web-based

Secured mail system
To provide security to the organisational data, an organisation
itself develops its own mailing system and the entire database resides at the
organisation head. The employees of that particular organisation must
communicate and with the admin through this mailing system only. As the database

organisation, the organisation admin can know the information and the
transactions done by him. In this mailing system, we are using the encryption

How To Access The Deep Web or DarkNet – A Beginner’s Guide

You may have heard that there is some mysterious hidden internet
called the ‘Deep Web’ or the ‘DarkNet’ that you can’t get to from Google, and
which is hidden from most web surfers. Perhaps tales of the dark marketplaces
selling all kinds of legal and illicit goods anonymously for Bitcoin have picqued your curiosity, and you would
like to take a look around and see what they are like. Perhaps you live in a
country where social media and ordinary internet sites are censored and you
would like to visit a place where everyone is free to speak their mind freely
and without fear of repurcussion. Or perhaps you simply care about your privacy
and security online and are attracted to the idea of an internet space where
users are not constantly tracked, monitored, and analysed by manipulative
marketeers, government spies and malicious hackers. All of these are common
reasons why people become interested in visiting this hidden, anonymous internet
space – but if you are like 99% of people you probably don’t have a clue how to
access the so-called ‘darknet’ or ‘deep web’.
Many people find the idea of even trying to access and use the
deep web a little bit intimidating and scary, and if you are a complete
beginner to this kind of stuff you are probably feeling the same. You may be
concerned over what you will see, who you might meet, or what other
concequences there may be for using something so strongly linked in the popular
imagination to illicit activity. Please do not worry. You will not find
anything which you haven’t looked for, and the beauty of the darknet is that
nobody you meet will know who you are – you are just another anon – and there
is a great security in that. You will be safe and you will suffer no negative
consequences for visiting the darknet. You will also have no technical trouble
learning how to access the darknet and find your way around once you have read
this beginner’ guide which will hopefully tell you everything you need to know!
How To Access The Deep Web or DarkNet – A Beginner’s Guide
As stated above, the deep web is not a single location, but a
whole class of different locations which share one thing in common – that they
are hidden from search engines and regular internet users. Different areas of
the deep web therefore have different requirements for you to be able to access
them, and any technology which you use will only give you access to its
specific area of the hidden internet. Having said that, there is a very small
number of technologies used to create what is popularly called the ‘deep web’
or ‘darknet’, and one in particular which the vast majority of people use – TOR.
TOR
is an acronym which stands for ‘The Onion Router’. It got that name because of
the many layers you would have to peel back to find the real identity of any of
its users.
Tor is primarily a ‘privacy network’ which lets people use the
regular internet without being tracked. It does this by bouncing communications
around a lot of different computers, so rather than user A asking for a webpage
from server Z, user A asks user B to ask user C to request the webpage (of
course this is a massive simplification and is pretty inaccurate really, but it
does give you are rough idea of what is happening). This means that any third
party who is trying to spy on people will find it very difficult to tell who is
actually viewing the webpage, or sending the email, or whatever it may be.
In addition to this enhanced privacy for web browsers, TOR also
offers a way for people to host ‘hidden services’. A TOR hidden service
is a website or app of some kind whose location is hidden in exactly the
same way that the true location or identity of web browsers is hidden by TOR in
the example above. These hidden services can only be accessed by other TOR
users – not by regular search engines or regular internet users. You can
recognize them by their address – it will end in .onion and is often composed
of a seemingly random string of characters. Once you have TOR installed on your
computer you can visit these hidden services, which include the infamous dark
markets where bitcoin, drugs and hacked credit card details are ubiquitous, in
exactly the same way that you would access a regular website.
Installing TOR on your computer is incredibly simple. It is no
different from installing any other piece of software. It is also very easy to
use – when you open TOR you will see that it is just a web browser which you
use exactly the same way as you would any other web browser. In fact, it is
based on Firefox so if you have ever used that browser you will find it to be
very familiar indeed. For those in need of more rigorous privacy and security
there is also a TOR operating system called TAILS (The Amnesiac Incogneto Live
System) which you can run from a USB stick, but for most people the browser is
sufficient.

Using a VPN with Tor
Virtual Private Networks or VPNs are another kind of privacy
software which masks your IP address (hiding who you are) but do not allow you
to access hidden deep web sites.
Some users make use of a VPN in addition to
Tor, in order to hide the fact that they are using Tor. This is not necessary,
but some people just want that extra level of privacy. I recommend IPVanish if
you’re looking for a VPN that works well with Tor and provides an excellent
service for a fair price.

iPhone 8 Plus reportedly cracked open while charging, claims Taiwanese reports

Not even in the wildest dreams one would have thought that in spite of coughing up a huge amount for iPhone 8 Plus, one would in return get a cracked open iPhone screen. That’s what has happened in two separate incidents, when the iPhone 8 Plus reportedly cracked open while charging.
Apple would have not thought of following the embarrassment that Samsung had gone through last year when several incidences of Galaxy Note 7 exploding due to faulty batteries were reported. In case of iPhone 8 Plus too, faulty or damaged batteries are suspected to be the reason behind the devices to crack open.
One victim in question is Ms. Wu, who had recently purchased her gold 64GB iPhone 8 Plus, and had reportedly been in use for five days, reported the Taiwanese media. According to Wu, the iPhone screen started bulging upward and detaching from the chassis just three minutes into charging. She confirmed that she was charging the device using the original cable and adaptor. The current mobile phone is in possession of Apple for analysis.
In another incident reported by a man in Japan said that the iPhone 8 Plus was shipped to him with the screen detached. It was purportedly in such a condition in the box when it arrived.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia in a talk at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2017 in Beijing, China said that Moore’s Law is dead because it cannot keep pace with advancements in GPU design.
What is moore’s law?
Moore’s Law is the observation made by Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel, in 1965 that the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had doubled every year since the integrated circuit was invented. Moore predicted that this trend would continue for the foreseeable future. However, the pace has slowed down a bit in the subsequent years, but data density has doubled approximately every 18 months.
Speaking on the topic of “AI: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities,” Huang claimed to be the first major semiconductor company head to claim that Moore’s Law is dead.
Since the CPU transistors have grown at an annual pace of 50%, the performance has only been enhanced by 10%, Huang said. As advanced parallel-instruction architectures for CPU can be barely worked out by designers, GPUs will soon replace CPUs, he added.
Huang added that Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent, JD.com and iFLYTEK, the top 5 ecommerce players in China, have accepted Nvidia Volta GPU architectures to support cloud services. Additionally, HGX-based GPU servers have been deployed by Lenovo and Huawei.
Huang also said that Nvidia’s GPUs are the perfect solution for AI-based applications, suggesting he believes GPUs are set to play a larger role in certain aspects of computing, rather than replacing desktop CPUs completely. He showed faith in Nvidia’s GPUs and claimed that they will be able to replace CPUs in the upcoming years.
Intel has disagreed with Huang’s comments in the past too. “In my 34 years in the semiconductor industry, I have witnessed the advertised death of Moore’s Law no less than four times. As we progress from 14 nanometer technology to 10 nanometer and plan for 7 nanometer and 5 nanometer and even beyond, our plans are proof that Moore’s Law is alive and well,” said CEO Brian Krzanich last year.
A new Android banking Trojan has been discovered

Security researchers from SfyLabs have discovered a new Android trojan called “Red Alert 2.0” that has been created and distributed over the past several months by a new threat actor. The capabilities of the malware are similar to those of other Android banking Trojans, such as the use of overlays to steal login credentials, or SMS control and contact list harvesting.
The Red Alert trojan has many new features to ensure that it still effective. The malware can block and log incoming calls of banks, which could affect the process of fraud operation departments at financials that are calling victims on their infected smartphone about a possible malicious activity.
The trojan also uses Twitter to evade losing bots when the C2 server is taken offline. If the bot fails to connect to the hardcoded C2 it will recover a new C2 from a Twitter account. We have noticed this feature before in the desktop banking trojans, but it’s the first time to see it occurring in an Android trojan.

“The shift of malware campaigns from desktop (Windows) to mobile (Android) seems largely related to the fact that these days most transactions are initiated from mobile devices instead of the desktop. This motivates actors to invest in developing solutions that target Android and have the same capabilities as the malware variants that have been evolving on the desktop for years. “
Several WordPress Sites Hacked via Recently Patched Flaw

A critical vulnerability disclosed last week by the WordPress developers was already exploited and thousands of websites are already hacked, the security firm Sucuri warned on Monday.
At the end of last month, WordPress 4.7.2 was released.The developers of the popular content management system (CMS) informed that the latest version has patched three vulnerabilities, including cross-site scripting (XSS), SQL injection and access control issues.
Just roughly one week later, the developers admitted that the version 4.7.2 patched yet another flaw, described as the unauthenticated privilege escalation and the content injection vulnerability affecting REST API. This security hole allows a hacker to modify the content of any post or page on the targeted site.
This flaw, identified by the researchers at Sucuri, was already disclosedone week after the release of WordPress 4.7.2 just to give users enough time to patch their latest installations. However, according to Sucuri, many of the WordPress websites still have not updated.

Sucuri has tracked four different defacement campaigns. They started seeing the first attacks leveraging this vulnerability in less than 48 hours after the official disclosure.
In one of these campaigns, the attackers replaced the content of more than 60,000 web pages with their “Hacked by” messages. In the other three operations, two of which are sharing a single IP address, have each targeted nearly 500 pages.
The SecurityWeek has noticed that some of the compromised websites have also been re-defaced by a fifth actor. Fortunately, some of the affected sites have already been cleaned up and updated to WordPress 4.7.2.
“There’s already a few exploit attempts that try to add spam images and content to a post. Due to the monetization possibilities, this will likely be the #1 route to abuse this vulnerability,” explained Daniel Cid, CTO and founder of Sucuri.
The company’s WAF network has seen an increasing number of exploit attempts, reaching nearly 3,000 on Monday.
1.5M Unpatched WordPress Sites Hacked

Experts say that the attackers have taken a liking to content-injection vulnerability that is disclosed last week which is patched in WordPress 4.7.2. It has been exploited to used to deface 1.5M sites so far.
This issue has evolved into “one of the known worst WordPress related vulnerabilities to come up in some time,” researchers at WordFence, a Seattle-based firm that makes WordPress security plugins, said on Thursday.
WordPress has silently patched this issue. An unauthenticated privilege escalation vulnerability in the REST API endpoint, which is when it pushed version 4.7.2 on Jan. 26. A core developer with in the CMS said the following week that they waited to disclose this vulnerability to ensure that millions of more sites could deploy this update. WordPress has a feature which automatically updates the CMS on the majority number of sites, but some users choose not to use it and test updates before applying them.
Mark Maunder, the WordFence’s Chief Executive Officer, said that researchers have seen the biggest spike in attacks on this Tuesday when the company has blocked roughly 13,000 attacks from campaigns which are 20 and different.
The reason for the influx, Maunder said, is because at the beginning of the week attackers refined their attacks to bypass a rule that WordFence and other companies had implemented. While WordFence was quick to engineer a new rule to prevent the bypass, attackers were still able to succeed in infecting a slew of sites–more than 800,000 over a 48-hour period from Tuesday to Wednesday–he said.
In some instances, hackers are competing to compromise sites that haven’t yet applied the fix. WordFence researchers claim they’ve come across some sites where multiple hackers attempt to take credit on multiple pages for hacking them. The defacing and re-defacing will likely continue until those sites apply the 4.7.2 fix, Maunder says.

We’re going to start with a little introduction to Kali Linux, because that is the OS I prefer, is the easiest for this task and comes with all the tools we need. “Kali” is a Linux distribution and is the successor to the much acclaimed Backtrack, which many of you reading this article will probably know of. Now, there are many ways of installing and using Kali, if anyone needs any help, leave in the comments, and I will probably write another post about installing and its basics in the future.
In this tutorial, I’m going to hack into a Wi-Fi hotspot that I just set up, named – Anonymus.
Now, given that we have Kail Linux, open up a terminal window, type in “ifconfig “. This is going to list all the networking interfaces connected to your device.

Here, we only need (wlan0) which is our Wi-Fi card, so we can disable the others by doing “ifconfig <name of the interface> down”.

For our next step we type in, “airodump-ng –c <channel> -w <name> –bssid <bssid> mon0”.

Let me explain a few things here, “airodump-ng” is a tool for capturing Wi-Fi packets, “<channel>” means the channel your target is running on, “-w” basically writes a file by the name that succeeds it in “<name>”, (I did “handshake” just for the convenience of it) bssid is a string of numbers specific to a hotspot.

Now, open up a new terminal and type in “aireply-ng -0 0 –a <bssid> mon0”, this command send a deauthentication signal (usually called a deauth packet) to all the devices connected to that hotspot. Then after a few seconds we stop it by “Ctrl+C”. Now, as we can see, the other terminal shows that the WPA Handshake was successfully captured.

We can close both windows at this point, and open a new one. Type “ls”; that should list the files in the current directory. We can clearly see that the files from the above operation are present. But we only need the file ending with “-01.cap”.

Then we do, “aircrack-ng –w <full location of the wordlist> <the file name>”.

You may be asking what wordlist? What is that sh*t?
A Wordlist is a file containing thousands of known and possible passwords, which you can download from the internet (“specifying from the internet” – We ain’t dumb, boy! :P). The one I used can be found here. The list contains 982,963,904 words exactly all optimized for WPA/WPA2. Would also just like to point out that this is not my work, I got it from forums.hak5.org. It was a guy who compiled a whole load of useful lists, including his own to come up with 2 lists (one is 11gb and one is 2gb) I will be seeding this torrent indefinitely since it is shareware and awesome!

It will then start searching for matching keys in the word list. Now the time that this will take is solely dependent on the strength of the password. After completion it looks something like the screenshot below. In it, you can see that it tested 45688 keys and my key was the 45689th. I purposely put futurama because frankly, futurama is awesome! Also it is a very weak password (People reading this, if your password is “futurama”, you’re cool! The Hell? Change it right now!)
